Adult Backpack Awareness Training
The Orange County High Adventure Team will be conducting their next
Basic Backpack Awareness Course on March 2 - 4, at the
Council Training Room in the William Lyon Homes Center for Scouting at 1211
East Dyer Road, Santa Ana.
Course topics include map and compass training, proper backcountry gear, food planning, preparing your body for the backcountry, low impact camping and much more. If you plan to take your groups hiking or backpacking, this course is a must!
The course is open to adult Venture, Boy Scout, Cub and Webelos leaders. The cost for the course is $45 and limited to the first 100 people to sign up. Troop Committee Challenge Online
The Troop Committee Challenge, the training course for troop
committee members, is now a fun, interactive and challenging online experience.
To start your training, visit the BSA Online Learning Center at http://olc.scouting.org.
The Challenge will take about an hour to complete and it can be taken
individually or with a small group. Upon completion, a Scouter can print
out a certificate. This training will be recorded in the Scouter's training
record. Get started today!
Wood Badge is Scouting's premier training course. It's the ultimate leadership training experience designed to meet the leadership needs for all Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and Venturing leaders, as well as Council and District leaders and Scouting professionals.The members of the course are formed into patrols and these into a troop. The entire troop lives in the out-of-doors over two weekends, camping, cooking their own meals and practicing Scout skills.
