Marc Aarons was recently selected by The International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians to receive the distinguished Cliff Dochterman Community Service Award medallion and square uniform knot in recognition of his many contributions to help strengthen the relationship between Rotary and Scouting Associations.
Last year, Marc was also awarded a Lord Baden-Powell World Fellowship by the World Scout Foundation by the King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, the Honorary Chairman of the World Scout Foundation, at a presentation in Eschborn, Germany. This is a very exclusive Fellowship that involves approximately 1,000 members and recognizes individuals for their commitment to Scouting both through their leadership and financial support to Scouting around the world.
Marc was a very active Scout, earning more than 50 merit badges, three Silver Palms and a forth Bronze Palm. In 1990, Marc was in the Wiatava Lodge and was mentored by Tom Tabb and when the Tom Tabb Memorial Committee was formed in early 2004, Marc stepped up to help raise funds to remodel the Dining Hall at Lost Valley and it was renamed in the honor of Tom Tabb as the Tom Tabb Center. He was also involved in establishing The Tabb Foundation to provide Scouts with funds to attend international Scouting events.
Marc’s studies in Japan as well as the influence of Tom Tabb, created Marc’s keen interest in International Scouting that included participation as the Contingent Leader of the Orange County Troop which attended the 11th Nippon National Jamboree.
Marc became a member of the Orange Council, BSA professional staff in 1996 as a District Executive. During his time with the Orange County Council, he completed the Professional Development Leadership Basic, Intermediate and Advance Courses besides completing the Professional Development Management Course.
In the past five years, he has been committed to the Order of the Arrow where he has volunteered countless hours of service as well as to International Scouting and Jewish Scouting, where he is taking an active role to help revive the Council Jewish Committee.
Marc follows the Scouting ethic publicly and privately in all of his daily life, and he will be an asset to Scouting and the Orange County Council for years to come.
Congratulations!
